  • Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was an Italian polymath of the High Renaissance who worked as a painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, and architect. He lived from 15 April 1452 to 2 May 1519. Most people agree that Leonardo was a genius who personified the Renaissance humanist ideal, and his body of work represents an accomplishment for future generations of artists that is only surpassed by that of his younger contemporary, Michelangelo.
